The Arc of Washington State develops services and programs for people with developmental disabilities, lifetime functional disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, epilepsy and related neurological disorders which occur before age 18. Their goal is to promote self-sufficiency and inclusion.
The Center for children with Special Needs promotes the health and well being of children with special health care needs and their families. Located at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, they serve all children who have, or are at increased risk for chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions and who also require health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by children generally.
The ASK Resource line is a statewide, toll-free information and referral service of Healthy Mothers, Health Babies Coalition of Washington that links families of children with developmental disabilities or special health care needs with evaluation services, treatment, medical financing, recreational opportunities, parent support groups and other resource information. ASK Referral Specialists are bilingual in Spanish, and have access to interpretive services for 50 additional languages.
